Hands
Have we ruined the concept of relationships? Human interaction? Love? Of course not. We hear about this constantly though: the death of face to face, phones taking over our lives and oh yeah, how we’re too socially inept to meet someone before we meet them digitally. I think this is all a bit dramatic to say the least.

Tally
The older generations love to boast about how they actually went on dates, met at bars and wrote each other love letters. But, they love to ignore the fact that they also helped the divorce rate rise to 50%. (it’s actually only between 42-45%1, but still). And actually, due to the millennial generation we’ve helped drop the divorce rate by 18%2. Millennials are taking their time in finding the one and sticking with that one.

Yes, there is a generational gap. Yes, the concept of face-to-face has changed. Yes, communication has changed. So what? There’s this idea that using apps and technology has changed the inner-workings of human beings, as if our DNA has drastically changed after being exposed to Tinder. Services and apps are everything nowadays, and everyone’s on some kind of dating app ‒ Tinder, Grindr, Bumble, Match.com. The list goes on and on. But, what does that mean? What does that change? We’re still interacting with other human beings.

It may not start out from face-to-face, but it definitely gets to that point one way or another. We are living in a weird time. There are people looking for a version of love with AI and robots (I truthfully can’t explain that one), but overall, the majority of us are just like those before us. Love crosses generations.
