ROBIN'S EGG
The sun beats down on my shoulders, skin tingling at the kiss of warmth. The sky is clear and blue like robins eggs. Not a single cloud. The heat coming up from the black asphalt of the road, sandwiches me between the sun and the pavement. I am not in control. The sound of traffic fades behind me as I step into the sodium vapor orange of the street lights. It’s dark now. Black sky. Heavy cloud coverage blocking the moonlight.

Hesitation of what to do or where to go settles in my chest as the darkness surrounds me. Many dark alleys and busy roads to take. Blindly, I follow my feet as they take me down each path. The choice is not mine, though my opinion may sway the final decision.

I look in front of me as my feet slow, and eventually stop.
